Conor McGregor BREAKS SILENCE on UFC Return, 'Hitting Rock Bottom,' New Contract, Bud Crawford Fight

Conor McGregor finally sat down with Ariel Helwani for a real interview and the whole thing hit different than I expected. He gets into the UFC return on July 11th in Las Vegas against Max Holloway, but the part that really stuck with me was when he started talking about hitting rock bottom and finding God again.

It has been five years since his last fight. Almost to the day. And it is also 11 years since he won his first UFC title against Chad Mendes on that same July 11th date. Kind of wild how all that lines up.

He finally explained what really happened with the Michael Chandler fight that fell apart. About three weeks out from the bout the UFC had cameras over for a flow spar. No protective gear. Things heated up a little, his foot caught an elbow, and his baby toe snapped. He says the pain was brutal and he just could not fake his way through another camp. He owns it and says he learned the lesson.

The faith stuff is what made me want to post this. He talked about being raised Catholic and how that meaning hits deeper when you are at rock bottom and nothing else is there. He keeps saying God makes no mistakes and that he is walking a tightrope every day. Said the rent is due daily. When you start doing the inner work, the fall actually gets higher because now you have something to lose.

There is real fight talk in here too. Two fight deal with the UFC, second date already locked in for April 2027, and he claims he is the highest paid fighter in UFC history for this comeback bout. He gets into the Terence Crawford beef, the Paramount deal, and why the sport needs to platform its stars better.
